Learn More About Us

What We Believe

Our beliefs are rooted in the historic Christian faith and clearly expressed through the Statement of Faith of the Fellowship of Independent Evangelical Churches (FIEC). This statement outlines the core truths we hold to and provides a solid foundation for our teaching, worship, and life together as a church.

At Charlton Road Church, our Vision, Mission and Values express who we are and what we believe God has called us to be in Kingstanding and beyond. Our vision shows the direction we're heading, our mission describes what we do every day, and our values shape how we live it out together. These statements help guide our church family as we seek to honour Jesus in all we do.

🎯 Our Vision

To be a light on a hill in Kingstanding for North Birmingham and beyond.

✝️ Our Mission

To glorify God, grow in Christ, go with the gospel, and give ourselves in service.

💎 Our Values

  • Gospel-rooted
  • Spirit-dependent
  • Community-oriented
  • Authentically-lived

Our History

Charlton Road Church has been part of the Kingstanding community for nearly nine decades. From our earliest days, we have sought to love our neighbours, share the gospel, and serve faithfully as an independent evangelical church.

Since 1936, Charlton Road Church has stood at the corner of Charlton Road and Chingford Road, serving the people of Kingstanding. As an independent, evangelical church, we have always aimed to keep the Bible at the heart of our life and ministry while welcoming people from all backgrounds.

Over the years, the church has seen many changes in the local community, yet our commitment to sharing the good news of Jesus has remained the same. In 2026 we celebrate 90 years of God's faithfulness—ninety years of gathering, worshipping, praying, supporting families, and seeking to bless the neighbourhood we call home.

Charlton Road Church is also part of the Fellowship of Independent Evangelical Churches (FIEC), connecting us with a wider family of like-minded churches across the UK. We are in fellowship with Medhurst Ministries, an organization that partners with and supports churches in forgotten, neglected places.

Our Leadership

At Charlton Road Church, our leadership team is made up of elders. According to the Bible, elders are men who are recognised by the church for their godly character, spiritual maturity, and ability to teach and care for others. Elders are the pastors and shepherds of the church family—they lead, guide, pray for, and look after the people.

What to Expect on a Sunday

You're very welcome to join us on a Sunday morning at Charlton Road Church.

From 10:30am, we serve tea, coffee, and snacks — a relaxed time to chat or prepare for the service. Our main service begins at 11:00am and lasts about an hour.

We sing together, read from the Bible, pray, and hear a message based on God's word. Primary school–aged children are dismissed to Kids Ministry just before the sermon, and Communion is shared twice a month.

There's no dress code and no pressure — just a warm welcome as we gather to worship God together.
